Margaret Cam grew up in Charlotte, NC, the youngest of four children of Vietnamese immigrant parents. Her father had worked as a tailor in Vietnam, and found work in restaurants to put himself through graduate school in America. Margaret followed suit, working in restaurants starting in high school, through studying Apparel Design in Portland, OR, and on to restaurant management in New York. Over years of working side by side with chefs and kitchen teams, Margaret developed a sense of respect for the chef’s apron. She listened to the frustrations that her coworkers and friends had with the aprons currently available on the market, and worked together with them to develop aprons that were crafted to match their body type, sense of style, and professional needs. Soon she was outfitting whole teams, working with restaurants and other businesses to create practical, modern uniforms that looked great on each individual. The response was overwhelming. In the years since, she has reworked and refined her designs relentlessly, responding to feedback from each team that she’s fitted. The CamCam label has grown to represent a comfortable and versatile, stylish apron that chefs and professionals can wear with confidence.
